  • WHO planned, implemented and evaluated a cross border field simulation exercise on a fictious illness described as East Rift Fever which affects both humans and animals at Namanga One stop Border post on 11-14 June 2019. The exercise involved 23 different sites across Kenya and Tanzania including the international airports in Nairobi and Kilimanjaro. The exercise brought together 300 participants from 10 African states, 16 regional and international institutions and organizations. Scenario 5: Mobile laboratory For the purposes of the FSX two mobile laboratories are set up, one in a small room at the health facility in Kenya, and another one on the Tanzanian side of the border in a school room (because there is no room at the health dispensary). These mobile laboratories analyse mock samples from patients and initial results suggest the presence of the ERF (East Rift Fever) virus. The mobile labs speed up diagnostics.
